Non-Executive Chair, ISC Group
ISC Group, the world’s largest independent business community for women in insurance, is seeking to appoint a new Non-Executive Chair to lead its Global Board. This appointment forms part of our succession planning strategy as we transition from founder-led governance. While Barbara Schonhofer will always remain ISC Group’s founder and guiding inspiration, the time has come to appoint a new Chair from within the insurance or wider financial services sector to lead the organisation into its next chapter.
Role Overview
The Non-Executive Chair will be an ambassador for our purpose and mission. This prestigious leadership role requires a combination of strategic insight, inclusive governance, and strong industry presence. The Chair will ensure the effective functioning of the Global Board, support the CEO and executive team, and uphold the organisation’s values, purpose, and legal responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Board Leadership

Lead ISC Group Board meetings and ensure effective, inclusive decision-making

Promote openness, transparency, and accountability in all discussions

Foster a collaborative, high-performing Board culture with the right blend of skills and experience
Governance & Strategy
-
Ensure robust governance frameworks and adherence to best practices

Collaborate with the Board and executive team on strategy and long-term vision
Support and Oversight
-
Act as a sounding board and advisor to the CEO

Oversee performance, risk, compliance, and financial management
-
Chair the Remuneration Committee
Stakeholder Engagement

Represent ISC Group at events and industry forums
-
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners globally
Commitment
-
Attend four Board meetings per year (virtually or in person)

Participate in strategy and event days, plus ad-hoc engagements
Who We’re Looking For
A respected leader in the insurance or financial services sector with:

Proven non-executive or senior leadership experience

A deep understanding of governance and strategic oversight
-
A commitment to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable industry

A collaborative, values-led approach with excellent stakeholder skills
Location: Agnostic with in-person attendance as required (mostly in London)
Term: Three years, renewable by mutual agreement
